Essex County Freeholders Honor the Millburn High School Vex Robotics Team for Winning the 2019 Vex Robotics World Championship

(West Caldwell, NJ) – During a special presentation held at the West Caldwell Municipal Building, the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders honored the Millburn High School VEX Robotics Team for winning the 2019 VEX Robotics World Championship.

Freeholders At-Large Patricia Sebold and President Brendan W. Gill presented the team with Commendations in celebration of their championship win. They shared how proud they were of the team for this historic accomplishment. They are the first team from New Jersey to win the VEX Robotics World Championship. They accomplished this at the 12th annual VEX Robotics World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky with over 30,000 people in attendance, and against a field that included 1,650 teams from 40 countries.

Coach Hilton Seibert accepted the Commendation on behalf of the team and thanked the Freeholders for their support. He shared how proud he and the team were to represent the state of New Jersey and Essex County. Team Captain Bryan Levine also spoke and shared how proud the team was to represent the state and the county, but also to represent the United States, as they defeated two teams from China in the
championship round.

The team is comprised of the following members: Seniors: Javier Coindreau, Zimri Leisher, Bryan Levine (Team Captain), Ethan Mak, Alexander McBride, Jack Mansfield, and Sarah Rose; Juniors: Jaffer Ali and Joshua Kirshenbaum; Sophomore: Grant Haas; and Freshman: Bruce Zhang.

The team was coached by David Farrell and Hilton Seibert. The team was also assisted by Robert Keenan, Technology Coordinator and received administrative support from Dr. William Miron, Principal and Dr. Christine Burton, Superintendent of Schools.
