2020 NJAC Foundation and SHI International Scholarship Winner – Shateria Champagne

(Newark, NJ) – The Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders recently honored Shateria Champagne of Orange, New Jersey, for being named the Essex County recipient of the 2020 Scholarship Program Award from the New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) Foundation and SHI International Corporation. The Board’s commendation was sponsored by acclamation and delivered to Ms. Champagne, in lieu of a presentation ceremony, due to gathering restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The scholarship award recognizes distinguished students from technical and vocational schools who plan to pursue higher education in the State of New Jersey. SHI International Corporation and the NJAC Foundation award the grants to fund the honorees continuing education at a county college, or a state college or university.

This year’s honoree, Shateria Champagne, is a senior in the Web Design program at the Essex County Schools of Technology Donald M. Payne Tech Campus. She has consistently earned honor roll distinction and holds a 3.6 GPA. She is a twin who is focused, well known, liked by her peers, and her teachers describe her as a pleasure to have in class.

Shateria plans to study Information Technology at Montclair State University. She believes this scholarship would help her tremendously with reaching her goals of graduating with a degree and embarking on a successful career in Information Technology. The Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders congratulates her on being named the 2020 SHI International Corporation Program Award from the NJAC Foundation, and wishes her great success in all her future endeavors.
