essex county freeholder president brendan w. gill sworn in as 78th president of njac for 2019

(Trenton, NJ) –Essex County Freeholder PresidentBrendan W. Gill of Montclair was sworn in by Governor Phil Murphy as the 78thPresident of the New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) on Friday, January 25, 2019, at the New Jersey State House in Trenton, New Jersey.

Essex County Freeholders,along with Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo, Essex County Democratic Chair Leroy Jones, and a multitude of other elected officials fromdifferent levels of government were in attendance.

Freeholder Gill expressed his gratitude for being selected to serve as NJAC’s Presidentfor 2019.

His focus as President is to ensure that community service will be at the center of NJAC’s goals for this year. He stated a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “Somewhere along the way, we must learn that there is nothing greater than to do something for others.”He reaffirmed as he takes on the responsibility of serving as the 78th NJAC President, the goals of the organization will continue to be predicated on making a positive impact on the lives of the citizens that it serves.

He expressed confidence in his ability to leverage his experience in helping County government, across the state, improve the lives of its citizens. “I am emboldened by knowing that these issues are not foreign to me or the committee.” Gill stated.“And I am encouraged by the fact that we have highly qualified subject matter experts to help us effectively address these challenges.”

He stated, “In 2019, the New Jersey Association of Counties will continue its good work by assuring that county government operates effectively and efficiently.”

Freeholder President Gill began his association with the NJAC Board of Directors in 2014 as an alternate voting member and in 2015, he became a voting delegate.In 2016, he was appointed to the position of NJAC Secretary Treasurer.
