(Newark, NJ) – On October 20, 2021, Essex County Commissioner President Wayne L. Richardson offered greetings at the Essex County Appreciation Night performance of the UniverSoul Circus show in Newark. The 2-week stretch of shows in Weequahic Park concluded on Sunday October 24th. The highlight of the event was the presence of New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy.

The UniverSoul Circus is a black-owned Atlanta based traveling circus founded by Cedric Walker in 1994. Over the last 28 years, they have performed over 14,000 shows to 25 million people. The UniverSoul Circus will now travel to Philadelphia where they will perform shows at Fairmount Park starting on October 28th.

“The UniverSoul Circus is a critically acclaimed, family friendly entertainment event that can be enjoyed by all people,” Commissioner President Richardson stated. “Weequahic Park is one of Newark’s prominent community locations, and I was honored to welcome the UniverSoul Circus to Essex County.”
