The Essex County Board of County Commissioners joins Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo in applauding the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) decision to add Essex County to the list of counties eligible for aid in the wake of Hurricane Ida. We thank Governor Phil Murphy, Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker, as well as U.S. Representatives Donald Payne Jr., Mikie Sherrill, Tom Malinowski and Albio Sires for their tireless work in advocating on behalf of the citizens of Essex County. This tragic natural disaster resulted in the deaths of 4 Essex County residents, injuries to many more, and caused millions of dollars in property and infrastructure damage. The relief provided by FEMA will not ease the pain so many of us are feeling, but it will help our county residents and businesses move forward and rebuild our communities.
