Oishik Mukherjee – 2020 NJ State Table Tennis Champion (U2000)

The Essex County Board of County Commissioners recently honored Oishik Mukherjee of Livingston, New Jersey for winning the 2020 New Jersey State Championship for Table Tennis in the U2000 Category. Essex County Commissioner and long-time Livingston resident Patricia Sebold sponsored the resolution recognizing his achievement.  Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, the Board was unable meet Oishik but he was sent a commendation from the Board recognizing his accomplishment.

Oishik Mukherjee is an 8th grader at Heritage Middle School in Livingston and trains with coach Bochao Li at Matchpoint Table Tennis Center in Whippany, New Jersey. He defeated multiple opponents to win the finals of the under 2000 category (USATT national rating) in the 91st New Jersey State Table Tennis tournament, held at the NJ Table Tennis Club in Springfield, New Jersey. In 2019, he won the under 1750 category, making this his second consecutive NJ State Championship win.

Oishik is also an active Boy Scout with Troop 12 Livingston and participates in the Student Council, FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and Builder’s Club at school. He is an avid market watcher, a self-professed “sneakerhead” and wants to pursue studies in Finance and Economics.
