essex county freeholders honor kevin adorno of bloomfield high school for winning the 2019 district 9 145lb weight class wresting championship

(Bloomfield, NJ) –During its Wednesday, April 10, 2019 meeting at Bloomfield Town Hall the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders honoredKevin Adornoofthe Bloomfield High School Wrestling Team for winning the 2019 District 9 Wrestling Championship for the 145 lb. Weight Class.

The Commendation was sponsored by District 5 Freeholder Carlos Pomares of Bloomfield, along with Freeholder President Brendan Gill of Montclair. Freeholder Pomares shared how proud he and the Board were of Kevin for the success he had during his time at Bloomfield High School, and specifically for his stellar senior season.

Kevin Adorno came through Bloomfield Township’s recreation program, where he was very successful as a youth wrestler. As a freshman in high school, he wrestled 24 varsity matches and won 12 of them in a highly competitive weight and earned a varsity letter as a freshman.

In the last 2 years at Bloomfield High School, he has registered 49 wins and 8 losses. His senior campaign included a 3rd place finish at the Kearney Tournament, a 3rd place finish in the Essex County Tournament, a 1st Place finish in District 9 tournament, and a 5th place finish in the Region 3 tournament. He finished the season with 34 wins and 6 losses, including 16 pins, and was selected 2nd Team All-League in the Liberty Division.

Friends, teammates, members of the Bloomfield Board of Education, and members of the Bloomfield Town Council were all on hand to wish Kevin well and congratulate him on his great season.
