Montclair, NJ – November 25, 2025 – Today, Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill, joined by Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (NJ-10), hosted a community town hall meeting to hear directly from constituents and answer questions about county and federal issues. The event provided residents with the opportunity to raise concerns, learn about available services, and receive updates on ongoing initiatives affecting Essex County families.
“Events like this are essential because they create space for honest conversations with the people we serve,” said Commissioner Brendan Gill. “Residents of Essex County deserve a government committed to improving their daily lives, strengthening stability, and ensuring affordability. We remain focused on delivering meaningful results that reflect the needs of our constituents."
“It was great to be in Montclair talking to our constituents about what’s happening at the federal level, the state level, and the county level," said Congresswoman LaMonica McIver. "It has been a wonderful evening and I’m glad for the opportunity to meet folks in NJ-10 where they are. I want to thank Commissioner Gill for hosting with me and cannot wait for the next town hall.”
During the town hall, Commissioner Gill and Congresswoman McIver answered questions on a wide range of topics, including:
- Recent cuts to Medicaid services and the effects of HR-1 on our communities.
- How to ensure that SNAP benefits are protected and children are not left hungry.
- What constituents can do to fight for the ACA and how to push elected officials to do more.
- The affordability crisis, and what Brendan and LaMonica are doing on the county and federal levels to bring down costs and ensure middle class families are able to remain in their communities.
During the town hall, residents shared concerns about rising costs, access to fundamental services, and the challenges affecting families throughout Essex County. Both Commissioner Gill and Congresswoman McIver reaffirmed their commitment and work to protect vital programs, build strong community resources, and fight for policies that directly benefit working families.
